Creativity

Rene Magritte 'Personal Values'The essays in this section focus on amateur creativity, primarily adult amateur creativity though much of it applies to people of all ages.  This is a neglected topic.  Creativity is generally looked at primarily from the perspective of the young prodigy or of the few acknowledged “geniuses” that makes them well-known in their respective fields.  As a psychologist, I have long contended (along with many others in the field) that creative expression is not something for the few, but a deeply engrained human need.  Unfortunately, this need tends to be undervalued in our culture.

These essays delve into the nature of the need for artistic creativity and examines challenges and opportunities in teaching adult amateurs.
